The neighbourhood of Cases Noves began its life as a fisherman's quarter. It celebrates its fiesta to coincide with St. Peter, patron saint of fishermen.
The fiestas begin on Friday night with a correfoc, a procession of devils and dragons lit up with firecrackers that takes over the neighbouring streets and finishes in Plaça Castellers. Celebrations also include live music, dancing, fairground attractions... All kind of events take place during the weekend: on Saturday there is a five-a-side football tournament, the morterers (who fire gun salutes with their muskets), a firework display at night and the crowning of the pubilla chosen from among the local girls. The chosen pubilla, dressed in traditional costume, will represent the neighbourhood at all official acts throughout the year. Mass is held on Sunday morning at the Ermita de Sant Sebastián. There is also the cercavila a procession of folk dancing in the streets and the children's correfoc. A "Tribute to the Elderly”, takes place on Sunday and a commemorative plaque is given to the oldest person in the neighbourhood. To end the festivities, all championship finals are held: five-a-side football, boules, and butifarra (a game played with the baraja española, a Spanish 48-card deck of Coins, Cups, Swords and Batons).
