Agustí Amell y Milà (1807- 187?)



Another of the “Americans” who became rich in America. Son of Juan Amell Sardà and María Milá Vendrell, who were engaged in the industry of wine barrels for export to the Americas. Agustí emigrated to Puerto Rico where he founded with his brother John, a wine import business in Aguadilla (Puerto Rico) dominating the business of wine exports in the second half of the s. XIX. He invested in real estate in Sitges, Barcelona and in vineyards.
