Arcadi Mas i Fontdevila (1852-1934)



Born in Barcelona, painter and draftsman founder of the Escola Luminista Catalana with Joan Roig i Soler. Son of a tailor, he studied at La Lonja School of Fine Arts. Awarded painter, he participated in numerous exhibitions and won a medal for “La procesión de Corpus en Sitges” at the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes in Madrid, 1887.

Awarded in other exhibitions, he was established as master of pastel drawing, and Picasso copied one of his paintings from 1895.

With a donation of Charles Deering he painted the tympanum of the portal of Santa Catalina in the Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla church of Sitges.
