Bartomeu Robert i Yarzábal (1842-1902)



Born in Mexico, he graduated in medicine at the University of Barcelona. He was a Catalan doctor and politician. He was known as Doctor Robert. He was the chairman of the Academy and the Laboratory of Medical Sciences. In 1899 he was appointed by the new government, and on behalf of the King, mayor of Barcelona. He was president of the Lliga Regionalista and earned deputy seat in the first parliamentary elections in 1901. Sitges he has dedicated a monument in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento (towards the church), a work by Josep Reynes.
