Manuel Vidal Quadras ( 1793-1861)

One of the first “Americans” who got rich in Cuba and Maracaibo and came back to Sitges to have a life of comfort.
Manuel left Sitges with his brother Aleix Sitges in 1809 to help in the family business his father Jose Maria had begun in Maracaibo.
His house (c /. Port Alegre 9) is in the Sant Sebastia beach of Sitges. It was renovated in 1852 with the neoclassical-romantic style that was fashionable in the mid-19th century.

Manuel Vidal Quadras ordered the the family pantheon construction in the Sitges cemetery. It stands out by its mix of Baroque and Doric styles, built in Carrara marble, a sign of power and luxury.
