One of the best guitar orchestras in the world takes on a repertoire of Spanish classical music with great virtuosity.

With over 25 years of experience, this guitar orchestra is considered one of the pioneers in the world and recognized as one of the best today. The Barcelona Guitar Orchestra performs works from Baroque to contemporary composers, although it specializes in Spanish music.

Its founder and director, Sergi Vicente, started a pedagogical experiment that, over time, became a major professional project, being a pioneer in its genre and establishing itself as a reference for all subsequent guitar orchestras. This original orchestral formation, the result of constant research, adaptation, and interpretation, has performed over 700 concerts, playing a wide repertoire that includes works by composers from all periods of music history.

Over the years, more than 150 guitarists from various nationalities have been part of the Orchestra. Some have developed successful solo careers and several have been selected to join the European Guitar and Mandolin Youth Orchestra alongside other musicians from all European countries.

In addition to performing in prestigious venues and participating in major festivals in Spain, the Orchestra has always maintained recognition and intense international activity: in 2000, it participated in the International Guitar Festival of Havana, in 2003, it toured various cities in Russia, and in 2009 and 2011, it successfully concluded two tours in the USA. Their performances in Rome, Paris, and Vienna are also noteworthy, as well as their participation in the Mediterranean Music Festival in 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2018.

To celebrate its 15th anniversary, a CD and DVD were released to great commercial success, and in 2009, Maestro Leo Brouwer personally conducted the Orchestra at the Auditori de Barcelona. It was broadcast live on TV3, and the dissemination of this audiovisual material is recognized internationally as a reference for all guitar formations worldwide.
