Rafael Aguirre is one of the most sought-after guitarists internationally, having received 13 First Prizes of the highest level, such as in the Tárrega Competition, the New York Pro Musicis. He was named Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in London (ARAM), in recognition of his international career.

He has performed in 44 countries, where his performances have been acclaimed as “a blessing” (Mainz Echo); “the future of concert guitar” (Kultur Port); “one of the most acclaimed ambassadors of Spanish guitar” (El País); in addition to highlighting his “maturity and intensity” (Ritmo).

Rafael regularly performs at prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and the Verbier Festival, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Gasteig Philharmonic in Munich, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, King’s Place in London, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic, National Theater of Cuba, Hyogo Performing Arts Center (Japan) and the Seoul Arts Center (South Korea).

He has been pre-nominated for the Latin Grammy and has received enthusiastic reviews from Gramophone, The Strad, and Crescendo Magazine, also appearing on international radio broadcasts such as BBC, NPR, CBS, performing with conductors such as Jesús López Cobos, Ludovic Morlot, Lorenzo Viotti, Thierry Fischer, Alondra de la Parra, Karina Canellakis, and orchestras such as the China NCPA Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), Lyon National Orchestra, National Orchestra of Spain, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, Bruckner Orchester Linz, Baden-Baden Philharmonic.
