The Sitges Carnival Parades have scheduled times:
SUNDAY: at 12h00 noon for children and at 19h30 for adults
TUESDAY: at 12h00 noon for children and at 21h00 for adults
The parade will start on Avenida Sofia (in front of the Pic Nic Restaurant) and finish at Cap de la Vila (see attached map).

18 h Carnival debate: “¿Es este el Carnaval que queremos?” (Is this the Carnival we want?)
Function room of the Societat Recreativa El Retiro
A discussion reflecting on the past, present, and future of the Sitges Carnival, analyzing the success of other carnivals in Catalonia. Participants include carnival presidents from various Catalan locations, the Sitges councilor for Traditions and Festivities, the president of the Sitges Carnival, and the presidents of the Carnival Committees of the Casino Prado Suburense, the Societat Recreativa El Retiro, and the Agrupació dels Independents del Carnaval de Sitges. Audience participation is encouraged.

Following the debate, the El Retiro Carnival poster, created by Sitges artist Víctor Bregante, will be unveiled.

20 h Workshop: How to prepare a good xató
Function room of the Societat Recreativa El Retiro
Masterclass by the Xató master, Carles Montserrat Eroles, celebrating the first written reference to Xató in L’Eco de Sitges newspaper on February 16th, 1896. The local weekly covered a dinner gathering of illustrious figures led by Santiago Rusiñol and Miquel Utrillo, three days earlier, at the Societat Recreativa El Retiro. This year the format changes and as a novelty, after the workshop, there will be a tasting of the magnificent Xató prepared that evening.

19:24h – Arrival of His Majesty Carnestoltes I and his entourage (ACT WITH FIREWORKS)
The Arrival will begin punctually at 19:24 h as per the bell tower’s clock. An hour before, the countdown will start at “La Fragata”. It is recommended to come early to get a good spot and not miss out. The proclamation will take place at the Town Hall. Please do not whistle!
His Majesty Carnestoltes and his entourage will proceed to the Town Hall to take power, recite the Proclamation, and rule Sitges throughout the week.

21:00 h – Xatonada El Retiro

His Majesty Carnestoltes I and the Carnival Queen, with their entourages, will visit schools, municipal nurseries, and senior citizen homes to bring Carnival to all. The school children are invited to make costumes and decorate their classrooms and schools.

From the epicenter of our municipality, where so many carnival processions have begun, the Rua de Antes returns to the joy of those who are nostalgic of our beloved Carnival! Sitges citizens are invited to participate dressed up with whatever they find at home. The Queen’s entourage will be responsible for livening up the meeting point. His Majesty Carnestoltes will also be present, and a brass band will provide musical entertainment.

His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Carnival Queen Sitges 2023, with their entourages, visit senior citizen homes to bring Carnival to all.
Route: Hospital Sant Joan Baptista. Sitges Park residence will be visited on the same Saturday at 16:30 h.
11:00 h – Visit to the Municipal Market
Visit by His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Carnival Queen of Sitges with their respective entourages.
12:00 h – Fancy dress bed race
The long-awaited and crazy Fancy Dress Bed Race starts in front of the Casino Prado.
The Carnival Queen and the Children’s Queen will send off the participants and close the race together with His Majesty Carnestoltes.
Route: carrer Francesc Gumà, carrer Jesús, Cap de la Vila, carrer Parellades, carrer Sant Pau, Paseo de la Ribera, carrer Sant Pere, carre Parellades, carrer Bonaire, Paseo de la Ribera up to the height of the children’s playground area. At the end of the race, the winning groups will receive their awards.

One of the most anticipated and unique days of the Sitges Carnival arrives, the Saturday of the “Fardo”, and with it, the Fardo Ball, organized by Barraques de Sitges!
With the legendary Miquel del Roig, who needs no introduction! A phenomenon in every sense, a “singer-of-everything” in capital letters, a genuine and irreplaceable musician, capable of standing alone with a guitar and singing you the latest songs to all-time hits.
The big surprise is brought by La Banda del Fardo, a cover band brought together for this joyful and humorous day in our town! They will immerse us in the imaginary journey of a band who are drug dealers and musicians harking from the American continent, and who will make their first stop in Sitges at the Fardo Ball! They will entertain in a festive and cheerful way with the hits of the moment and the hits that have never ceased to be! To fight against inequalities and to do justice against those who capture Sitges prawns and name them otherwise; for those who claim that the xató originates elsewhere; and for those who have not yet returned a cannon that is not their property! Fun and satire guaranteed!
Before, during, and after, the music keep playing with Dj Ceba, a great friend of Sitges and connoisseur of all the town’s festivities!

It will be time to say farewell to His Majesty with all the honors and return to our miserable routine. The blame for everything lies with Mrs. Old Lent, who always comes to spoil the party. If it were up to us, we would continue all year long. Or at least one more week.
19 h – Burial of His Majesty Carnestoltes I (Event with fireworks)
The procession will leave from carrer Francesc Gumà, accompanied by his entourage and the mourners who want to show their respect to the Carnival King. With the participation of Mrs. Old Lent.
Route: carrer Francesc Gumà, carrer Jesús, Cap de la Vila, carrer Parellades, carrer Bonaire, Passeig de la Ribera up to the monument to Greco, and the beach of La Fragata.
Arrival of Mrs. Lent
After bidding farewell to His Majesty Carnestoltes, the arrival of Mrs. Lent puts an end to the magnificent week of excess and sin.
Route: Passeig de la Ribera, carrer Bonaire, carrer Parellades, and Cap de la Vila, where Mrs. Lent will read her peculiar Vegetable Manifest and hand out sugared “Buñuelos” (wind fritters).
