The Fiesta Mayor de Sitges was declared a Heritage Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2016.
Declared a Traditional Festival of National Interest by the Generalitat de Catalunya in 1991.
It is the main popular celebration in honor of the patron saint of Sitges, Sant Bartomeu.

From the museums, a workshop has been prepared where devils, gypsies, and other figures will be brought to life as puppets, which we will cut out and paint. Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla
The Municipal Commission of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, representing the local authorities, receives the image of the Patron Saint from Mn. Rafael Vilaplana, Rector of the Parish. During the ceremony, medals will be presented to the new members of the Cuerpo de Portadores del Tabernáculo de San Bartolomé y Santa Tecla.
Accompanied by the Cobla Maricel, the image will then be transferred to Carrer Santa Bàrbara number 5, the location chosen by Mr. Joan Pros i Borràs, this year’s Pendonista. Upon arrival, a prayer will be held to inaugurate the exhibition of the Saint’s image.

The group from Girona, with a repertoire sung entirely in the feminine form, offers classic and traditional havaneres in an ideal setting by the Mediterranean Sea. Traditional cremat (burnt rum) will be served.

As the final mortar explodes, a parade begins featuring the Gegants (Giants), Capgrossos (Big Heads), Drac (Dragon), Àliga (Eagle), Devils, Bastoners, Cercolets, Panderetes, Pastorcillos, Cintas, Gitanas, and Moixiganga, accompanied by the Agrupació Musical Suburband.
At Cap de la Vila, the Moixiganga performs the full dance.

2:45 pm – SHOWCASE PERFORMANCE AND SPOKEN DANCE REPRESENTATIONS
Hort de Can Falç at 2:45 pm, Hospital de Sant Joan Baptista at 3:00 pm
At Hort de Can Falç, in honor of the authorities and citizens, and at the Hospital, in tribute to the residents and audience, the entremesos and folk dances will perform.
Both sites will feature the Giants, Big Heads, and the Dragon. The three Devil groups will present their spoken verses (balls parlats), but the Dragon will recite verses only at Hort de Can Falç. The rest of the groups will be split between both venues.

La Lola Van, a 1974 Volkswagen T2 converted into a luxurious DJ booth on wheels, stops at Fiesta Mayor to liven up the afternoon of Sant Bartomeu’s Eve.
6:00 pm – CASTELLERS PERFORMANCE FOR THE EVE
Cap de la Vila
Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges performs their traditional castells (human towers) for the Eve of Fiesta Mayor.
7:00 pm – CIVIC PROCESSION
Departure from the home of the President of the Municipal Commission of Sant Bartomeu and Santa Tecla, Xavier Salmerón i Carbonell.
The folk dances, entremesos, musicians, and authorities, along with the Agrupació Musical Suburband, collect the Tabernacle of Sant Bartomeu at 5 Santa Bàrbara Street — the location designated by Joan Pros i Borràs, Pendonista of Sant Bartomeu 2025 — and accompany it to the Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla.
Route: Illes Balears, 9 → Aragó → Can Pau Xic alley → Sant Honorat → Emili Picó → Jesús → Ànimes → Sant Isidre → Sant Gaudenci → Sant Francesc → Espalter → Santa Bàrbara → Can Bóta Park → Mossèn Joan Llopis Pi → Pou Vedre Square → Parellades → Cap de la Vila → Carrer Major → Town Hall Square → Baluard.
Upon arrival, the folk dances will receive the image of Sant Bartomeu, accompanied by the authorities, pendonista, and cordonistes. The image will be placed in the presbytery to preside over the liturgical celebrations of the festival.

During the fireworks show, a seated area is available where attendees can enjoy a glass of cava. Seating is limited. Tickets should be reserved in advance at the Commission’s booth, Llibreria Universal (Pg. Vilanova, 19), and Papereria La Tribu (Sant Bartomeu, 1). Contribution: €5.
People with reduced mobility must also book in advance at the same points.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 24 – Fiesta Mayor, Feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle
The Feast of Sant Bartomeu Apòstol, Patron Saint of Sitges, is the main day of the Fiesta Mayor Sitges 2025 celebrations.
6:00 am – JOYFUL AND FESTIVE MORNING PARADE
From Baluard Miquel Utrillo i Morlius
At dawn, the dances, entremesos, and musicians, accompanied by the charanga band Buskant el To, will once again parade through the streets of Sitges. Anyone who wishes may join the Ball de Fajas — simply wear white clothing, ribbon-tied espadrilles, and a sash (faja).
Following tradition, local officials, the Commission, and invited guests linked to the festival will offer fragrant flowers to the public.

10:30 am – SOLEMN MASS IN HONOR OF THE PATRON SAINT OF SITGES
Parish Church of Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla
The celebration will be presided over by Mn. Rafael Vilaplana Moltó, rector of the parish. On the occasion of his 50th anniversary, he will offer the tribute to our Patron Saint on behalf of the entire town.
At the end of the service, the goigs to the Saint will be sung by the Cor dels Amics de l’Orgue, followed by the veneration of the relic.
EXIT FROM MASS (SORTIDA D’OFICI)
After the Mass, from the Baluard to Town Hall Square
Musical parade by the Agrupació Musical Suburband, accompanying the authorities to the Town Hall. Then, all the dances and their respective musicians, along with Cobla Maricel and the Band, perform simultaneously. After the performances of the dances and entremesos, the Band will play Els Segadors, the national anthem of Catalonia.

From the Baluard, the Tabernacle of Sant Bartomeu will be carried through the streets and squares of Sitges, presided over by the rector of the parish, Mn. Rafael Vilaplana Moltó, and attended by the Honorable Town Council. Accompanied by the folk dances, grallers, the Agrupació Musical Suburband, and all Sitgetans who wish to join.
The parish standard and the Tabernacle of Sant Bartomeu are carried by the Cuerpo de Portadores de Sant Bartomeu i Santa Tecla.
Mr. Joan Pros i Borràs has been designated as Pendonista of the Flag of Sant Bartomeu and will be accompanied by the cordonistes Mr. Joan Pros i Mirabent and Mr. Xavier Canals i Pedrol.
Route: Baluard, Fonollar, Sant Joan, Davallada, Barcelona, Santiago Rusiñol, Jesús, Sant Bartomeu, Sant Gaudenci (quiet section), Sant Francesc, Cap de la Vila, Parellades, Bonaire, Pg. de la Ribera, Nou, Carrer Major, Town Hall Square, and Baluard.
Before the procession reaches the promenade, the Cobla Sitgetana will perform several sardanes, followed by Els Gegants de Sitges by maestro Tomàs Gil and La Processó de Sant Bartomeu by maestro Antoni Català i Vidal. ENTRANCE OF SANT BARTOMEU INTO THE PARISH CHURCH
As the procession arrives at the Baluard, the dances, entremesos, musicians, and the human tower (pilar) of the Colla Jove de Castellers de Sitges will encircle the Tabernacle, paying final tribute to our Patron Saint. Meanwhile, fireworks will burst and the bells will ring during the deeply emotional entrance of Sant Bartomeu into the Parish Church.
A closing prayer will follow inside the church.

FINAL DANCE OF THE FIRE BEASTS AND GIANTS
Immediately after the closing prayer, in front of the Town Hall, the traditional festivities will conclude until Santa Tecla with the final dance of the Fire Beasts and the Giants.
