EXHIBITIONS of the Sitges International Patchwork Festival 2024

Lisa Call

Ground Floor C.C. Miramar

This artist moved to New Zealand from the United States in 2015 and now lives in Kapiti. Lisa’s work is complemented by over 1000 quilts made in the last 25 years. She also has a long history as a specialized teacher in creative processes, series work, abstract concepts, and piecing technique. Adventure and connection are the two themes present in all her work. Discovering the unknown and exploring new possibilities.

Using fine lines in her works has become one of her hallmarks.

Sarah Impey

Ground Floor C.C. Miramar

This English artist’s works are found in collections at the International Quilt Museum in the USA or the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Over the past 20 years, she has specialized in stitched writing, using free-motion quilting. The inclusion of text as a design element and as a communication tool opens up an endless area of expressive potential. It allows her to use the quilt’s surface to experiment with wordplay through texture, patterns, and color. At the same time, she can explore social and personal themes sometimes with strokes of humor. She enjoys writing her own texts leveraging her love for language and her past as a journalist.

Esther Tronchoni

Fundación Ave Maria

Esther, a lover of nature and above all animals, started with patchwork about 15 years ago and very soon saw the possibility of expressing her enthusiasm in quilts.

Her technique is usually appliqué starting from a good quality photograph to achieve the most realistic works. What distinguishes her quilts are the “backgrounds” which is when Esther creates her own style by making mosaics, geometric shapes, and even the interlacing technique. Lately, she has discovered the world of felting with wool (whether alone or combined with patchwork) since with this technique she can go even further with the realism of her works.

Exhibition of American Quilts courtesy of Charles Edouard de Broin

Mercat Vell

This collector discovered living in the USA these pieces that originally simply had a domestic purpose, warm blankets made from fabrics recovered from old dresses. These simple, useful, and beautiful objects of popular art immediately seduced him. Through them, we get to know the life of rural American society of the 18th and 19th centuries, human, social, religious, political… A complete story told by the Quilts collected and restored for 40 years.

Exhibition 25 years of award-winning patchwork Viladrau – Sitges 2000- 2024

Hotel Calipolis – Sala Arcos

We celebrate 25 years of the AEP exhibition-contest. Each edition has called on members to participate with their best works. In Viladrau and then in Sitges, the best quilters in the national scene have exhibited, some of whom have sent their works to international competitions obtaining awards and worldwide recognition.

That’s why we thought it was time to pay a well-deserved tribute to all the people who have won each of the editions.

AEP Meeting Point Exhibition. Our quilts tell stories.

Ground Floor C.C. Miramar

We present the works made by members of the AEP from our Facebook group AEP: Meeting Point.

After the success and good reception of the two previous editions, a new edition has been organized with the theme “Our quilts tell stories” and with the aim of continuing the challenge posed among group members to create a traveling exhibition to publicize patchwork and our Association.

AEP Exhibition A look at the past

First Floor C.C. Miramar

In this new edition of the International Patchwork Festival, the theme of the AEP exhibition-contest is “A look at the past…”.

We will be able to admire the works of our members who have worked to present their quilts and be able to opt for one of the fabulous prizes offered by the collaborating companies and appear in the catalog edited by the AEP.

Young Talents Contest

We call again for the exhibition-contest for young people. Quilts with any technique made by young quilters who in some cases may receive a little help (this must be specified in the registration form). All participants will receive a gift.
