Sitges hosts the International Patchwork Festival 2025 from March 20 to 23, 2025
The International Patchwork Festival arrives with a hundred national and international exhibitors at the trade fair, its major exhibitions, specialized patchwork courses, and a large creative workshop space.
The International Patchwork Festival in Sitges has become one of the leading events in the textile art sector, attracting a large number of visitors each year. As the most important patchwork event in Spain, it is also internationally recognized and highly popular.
For four days, attendees can enjoy various international and national exhibitions, along with the AEP exhibition featuring competition entries from its members. The theme for the 2025 AE Patchwork competitions is: “Movement.”

Sitges Patchwork 2025 – Programa
Sitges hosts the International Patchwork Festival from March 20 to 23, 2025, featuring over 100 exhibitors at the trade fair, major exhibitions, specialized patchwork courses, and a large creative workshop space. As the most significant event on the national scene, it is internationally recognized and enjoys great popularity.
The grand patchwork fair, professional fair, specialized courses, and the creative space for express workshops complete the extensive program of activities.
Trade FAIR
The trade fair will once again be located on Paseo de la Ribera, housed in three tents covering a total area of 2,000 m2 with over 100 exhibitors. Entry to the fair is free, and capacity will be regulated according to current regulations.
PROFESSIONAL Sector
This year, leading companies in the sector will hold the professional fair in various hotels in the area. Interested parties should contact them directly to schedule appointments.
CREATIVE SPACE
Once again, we are organizing express workshops from Thursday to Saturday, located near the trade fair. All information will be published on our social media channels.

International Patchwork Festival Sitges – Exhibitions
2025 Exhibitions:
Jongkyeong Lee (KOR)
Location: Ground floor, Miramar Building
A South Korean textile artist with over 20 years of experience teaching traditional and contemporary patchwork techniques. She specializes in artistic quilts, using fabric, wool felt, and organza to create unique works. Her latest innovation involves layering organza fabric to create texture, making both sides of the fabric visible and reversible.
Yoko Okamoto y alumnas (JPN)
Location: L’Escorxador
Renowned patchwork artist, teacher, and member of the Japan Handicraft Association of Instructors. She presents works by her students, showcasing a unique sensitivity.
Boros Museo Amuse (JPN)

Exploring the Edo period’s textile traditions, where layering and stitching hemp fabric (Boro) ensured survival in Japan’s harsh climate.
Kogin & Hishizashi, Taeko Murakami (JPN)

Traditional Japanese embroidery techniques from the Aomori Prefecture, with deep historical roots and functional origins.
Korean Contemporary Quilt Group

Tara Faughnan (USA)

A designer and teacher known for her bold geometric designs and vivid color interplay, influenced by antique quilts and improvisational techniques.
Sandrine Torredemer (FRA)
Location: Sala Vidal
A textile artist specializing in poetic recycling, incorporating family fabrics into her embroidery to highlight slow, deliberate creativity.
AEP Exhibition “Movement”
Location: First floor, Miramar Building The AEP competition theme for 2025 is “Movement.” Members’ quilts will compete for prestigious prizes and a feature in the AEP catalog.
YOUNG TALENTS COMPETITION
We once again invite young quilters to participate in a special exhibition competition. Quilts using any technique are welcome, with some allowance for assistance (to be noted in the application form). All participants will receive a gift.
AEP Exhibition – Meeting Point: Our Quilts Tell Stories
Location: First floor, Miramar Building
We present works made by the members of the AEP from our Facebook group AEP: Meeting Point.
Following the success and positive reception of previous editions, the Meeting Point group has once again invited members to create a mini quilt on the theme “Our Quilts Tell Stories” with green as the predominant color. The goal is to create a traveling exhibition to promote patchwork and our Association.
Monographic Courses
The courses take place during the International Patchwork Festival.
Reservation of spots will only be confirmed upon payment and in strict order of registration. Limited spots for all courses. Priority is given to AEP members.
If a cancellation occurs after March 1st, no refund will be issued.
Courses taught by international teachers will include simultaneous translation. It is essential to properly complete the activity form to reserve a course spot.

The AEP reserves the right to cancel a course if fewer than 6 students enroll.
Material lists will be provided once enrollment is confirmed.

Jongkyeong Lee – Patchwork with organza
Friday 21 – 2100 (half-day course, morning and afternoon sessions)
Course fee for members: 50€ – Public fee: 70€
Learn to work with organza fabric using a fusion technique, instead of traditional hand or machine sewing, with multiple layers of organza. This technique uses an exceptionally minimal seam allowance of less than 1mm, and due to the translucent nature of the organza, the reverse side is visible. Both sides, the front and back, are completely reversible.

Play with color and value using this classic design by an artist who masters color. In this class, you will learn how to make patterns, sew with a new and interesting method, sew curves with precision, and explore color and value interactions as we build our quilt.
You must prepare the project in advance to make the most of the class.
This quilt can be colorful and made with scraps, or you can choose just 2-3 colors like the example.
Choose colors that vary in “value” from light to dark to create more interest and vibrancy. Neutral colors can offer a visual rest and tone down a very bold section.
Bring a variety of options, but color interactions will be discussed during the class.
Sandrine Torredemer – Bordado creativo y positivo
Thursday 20 – 2000 (half-day course, morning and afternoon sessions)
Course fee for members: 65€ – Public fee: 85€ (the price includes materials provided by the instructor)
This course does not require advanced embroidery knowledge.
We will learn how to create magnificent embroidery work from a photograph.
All materials, fabrics, fibers, and threads will be provided to create a piece based on the photo suggested by the instructor, using essential materials and collected/recycled fabrics.
At the end of the workshop, everyone will leave with their finished piece, ready to be framed.

Modern Boro
Saturday 22 – Morning
Course fee for members: 20€ – Public fee: 35€
Clothes, sheets, fabrics, and even a piece of thread were so precious that people risked their lives for them…
These precious scraps were “patched” together, using Sashiko to keep them united and reinforced. This is BORO.
In patchwork, there are often leftover scraps. By utilizing the shape and listening to their “voice,” we connect them to create a larger piece of fabric.
HISHIZASHI or Sashiko-style Embroidery with Thread Counting
Saturday 22 – Afternoon

The plum motif, which has many variations, is embroidered on Japanese kitchen towels using Hishizashi (diamond stitch). Adding Sashiko to your kitchen towels adds a touch of color to life.

KOGIN
Saturday 22 – Afternoon

This type of Sashiko embroidery, resembling weaving, comes from Aomori Prefecture in Japan. A sample with the Owl motif will be sewn. In Japan, owls are said to bring happiness. Coasters, clothing pockets, or bags can be some uses for this sample.

Montse Forcadell – Color and Design of Avant-Garde Quilts
Friday 21 – 2101 (1-day course)
