The city of Sitges will host one of the major musical events of the upcoming Holy Week with the performance of St Matthew Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach, one of the most significant works in the history of music.

The concert will take place at the Teatre Prado de Sitges and will feature the Camerart Orchestra, conducted by Jordi Montoliu, together with the Cor Ciutat de Mataró and the Coral Belles Arts de Sabadell. The three ensembles will combine their voices and talent to perform one of the most monumental and moving scores of the sacred repertoire.

Premiered in 1727, the St Matthew Passion is considered one of the absolute masterpieces of Western music. Its extraordinary combination of music, narrative and spiritual depth has made it a universal work that, nearly three centuries after its creation, continues to move audiences around the world.

The performance that audiences will hear in Sitges will also feature the participation of five internationally acclaimed soloists, who will bring their talent to a score that demands great vocal expressiveness and deep interpretative sensitivity.

With this concert, Sitges joins the cities that program this Baroque masterpiece during Holy Week, offering audiences a musical experience of great artistic and spiritual intensity in a cultural landmark such as the Teatre Prado.

In addition, this concert forms part of the town’s rich cultural agenda.
