Charles Deering(1852-1927)

Millionaire industrialist and collector form de U.S. who settled in Sitges on the hand of the painter Ramon Casas.

He built his own mansion that was called Maricel, where he installed his artwork.

He commissioned Miquel Utrillo to lead the construction of the mansion-museum. Miquel Utrillo had lived in Paris with Santiago Rusiñol and they both shared their artistic vision. In 1921, he finally left his Sitges residence and removed the Maricel collection, taking most of the artworks to the U.S.
