Joan Tarrrida Ferratges

He installed in Sitges, at his home in the c/ Major, the first shoe factory in Spain (1874).

In 1876 he bought the building where there formerly was a textile mill and moved the shoe factory there (he employed 400 people), starting an industrial tradition in Sitges that would become the driving force of the population for almost a century.
In the c/ Major, 36 there’s the Joan Tarrida Ferratges house, a residential building from 1888-1919
