Santiago Rusiñol (1861-1931)



Painter, writer and dramatist in Catalan. He was born in Barcelona, in a family of textile industrialists. He trained at the Barcelona Center of Watercolorists and traveled to Paris where he met Ramon Casas, Zuloaga (1889). At the end of 1891 he came to Sitges and fell in love with its yards and streets. He built the Cau Ferrat (his home-atelier), temple of art, and he organized the famous Fiestas Modernists, he promoted the monument to Greco, wrote his works and his aucas … The Cau Ferrat Museum is located in his former home and studio. Sitges has also dedicated Santiago Rusiñol a street, a statue and has lots references to the artist, who left a large footprint. He died in Aranjuez died 1931.
