The renowned art gallery from Sitges, OOA Gallery, surprises us once again by bringing contemporary African art beyond its borders and presenting it in the Catalan capital.

In collaboration with the Museum of Ethnology and World Cultures (MuEC), and as part of Catalonia’s Art Week, this Sitges-based gallery joins Barcelona’s vibrant cultural scene with the exhibition “Ponts Culturals: Contemporary African Art with a Woman’s Perspective.”

From November 14 to December 8, 2024, the MuEC will host this exceptional showcase, featuring artists such as REWA, Olivia Mae Pendergast, Miska Mohammed, and Tiffany Alfonseca, who explore African cultural identity and richness from a female perspective.

This exhibition, a true gem for art and culture lovers, includes a unique program designed to deepen the understanding of African identity and its context, offering the public an opportunity to closely connect with these artistic voices.

The program includes a series of special events to be held at the MuEC from November 30 to December 3:

  • Saturday, November 30: Begins with a guided tour of the African section of the MuEC at 12:30, followed by a special tour of the exhibition at 13:15. Attendees can enjoy a welcome cocktail at 13:30.
  • Sunday, December 1: The public can enjoy a concert of traditional African music by artist Anthony Seydu from Sierra Leone at 13:15. This will be followed by a guided tour of the exhibition at 14:00, accompanied by a cocktail at 14:15.
  • Tuesday, December 3: The day will start at 12:30 with a dramatic reading of L’Ombra Silenciosa d’un Gos by the writer Eugenia Kleber. This will be followed by a final guided tour of the exhibition at 13:30, concluding with a farewell cocktail at 13:45.

The “Ponts Culturals” exhibition not only celebrates the diversity and richness of African art but also turns Barcelona into a space for global exchange and appreciation of contemporary art. Thanks to the commitment of OOA Gallery, Sitges continues to demonstrate its support for international artistic creation and its role as a platform for talent from around the world.
