Explore artistic activities in Sitges with Out of Africa Gallery, during Art Week from November 23 to December 1.


Between November 23rd and December 1st,
the third edition of Art Week in Catalonia will feature more than sixty cultural activities, taking place in over 50 art galleries in Catalonia. There will be openings, talks, workshops, screenings, guided tours, presentations, routes, and a long list of activities to enjoy visual arts throughout the region!

ART WEEK PROGRAM IN CATALONIA – SITGES 2023

Discover the activities organized by OOA GALLERY:

1. Anjel’s artwork “The Dawn of Sisterhood” exhibited at the Maricel Museum, Sitges as part of “Visites Inesperades” from Nov. 23 to Jan. 7th.

As part of the Unexpected Visits (Visites Inesperades) of Art Week, the Maricel Museum has invited the artwork “The Dawn of Sisterhood” by the Cameroonian artist Anjel (Boris Anje) for a dialogue organized by art curator Montse Frisach, alongside the work of Joaquim Sunyer De Miro, “Las germanes Ribas.”.
The opening will take place on Thursday, November 23rd, at 11 a.m. at the Maricel Museum in Sitges.

 

2. A Cinematic Celebration: OOA GALLERY presents three African Films in collaboration with the African Film Festival, Nov. 24th-26th”

“In collaboration with the African Film Festival, OOA GALLERY presents 3 African films:

RAFIKI: Friday, November 24th, at 6 p.m.
The good Kenyan girls are good Kenyan wives,” but Kena and Ziki yearn for a little more. Despite the political rivalry between their families, the girls resist and remain friends, supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society. But when love blossoms between them, they will have no choice but to choose: happiness or security.”

WALLAY: Saturday, November 25th, at 11 a.m.
“Wallay depicts daily life in Burkina Faso through the eyes of Ady, a 13-year-old boy. Although he now lives in France, his father has decided to send him to visit relatives in West Africa. The boy is excited about the idea of spending a peaceful vacation in his father’s homeland, but upon arrival, his uncle greets him with coldness and reproaches. The rest of the family is happy to see him, and they all try to soothe the uncle’s temper, but Ady soon realizes that his stay will not be very relaxed.”

LA NUIT DES ROIS Sunday, November 26th, at 11 a.m.
“The action takes place in the contemporary era, at the Abidjan Prevention and Correction Center (MACA) in Ivory Coast. A young delinquent arrives there to serve a sentence and is confronted with the rituals and customs of the prison that he is unfamiliar with. The prisoners are left to their fate under the control of various gangs that enforce their own laws, but all must obey the leader.”
Each screening is subtitled in Spanish and will be followed by a glass of cava.

 

3. Art Experience on Friday Dec. 1st: Explore Sitges with the Art Bus, Visiting AGORA GALLERY, OOA GALLERY, and SALA D’ART in Vilanova i la Geltrú.

“On Friday, December 1st, Art Week is organizing an Art Bus that will pass through Sitges, making stops at the AGORA GALLERY, OOA GALLERY, and the SALA D’ART in Vilanova i la Geltrú.

OOA GALLERY takes advantage of this opportunity to host a closing event at 6 p.m. for the “Highlands of Sudan” & “Iron Man” show, featuring a guided tour and a glass of cava.”
