The Sitges Carnival 2025 will take place from February 22, from February 22, starting with the presentation of the Sitges Carnival Queen 2025, but the main events begin with the arrival of H.M. Carnestoltes on February 27, which will be Fat Thursday, and will end on Wednesday, March 5, with the Burial of His Majesty King Carnestoltes (Ash Wednesday).
The Sitges Carnival 2025 is celebrated with parades, parties, and a multitude of events that make it one of the top 10 carnivals in the world.

Carnival Parade Schedule
The carnival parades will take place on the following days and times:
- SUNDAY, March 2, 2025:

7:00 PM – Presentation of the El Retiro Carnival 2025 Poster and inauguration of the float project exhibition
Presentation of the El Retiro Carnival 2025 Poster, created by Antonio Bleda. In addition, the exhibition of float projects from recent years, also drawn by Antonio Bleda, will be inaugurated.
The exhibition will be open until Ash Wednesday during the following hours:
- Monday to Friday: from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
- Mondays and Thursdays: from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 13
8:00 PM – Workshop: How to Prepare a Great Xató
Location: Assembly Hall, Societat Recreativa El Retiro
A masterclass led by Xató expert Carles Montserrat Eroles to celebrate the first written reference to Xató in L’Eco de Sitges on February 16, 1896. The local weekly newspaper mentioned a dinner gathering that had brought together distinguished figures, led by Santiago Rusiñol and Miquel Utrillo, three days earlier, on February 13, at Societat Recreativa El Retiro.
This year, the format changes, and as a novelty, a Xatonada tasting will be offered at the end of the workshop, allowing attendees to enjoy the magnificent Xató prepared.

09:00 h – Visit to Schools, Residences, and Civic Centers in Sitges
His Majesty Carnestoltes I and the Queen of Carnival, along with their entourages, will visit schools, municipal nurseries, and senior centers to bring Carnival spirit to every corner of Sitges. They invite all children to prepare costumes and decorate their classrooms and schools.
Route:
- Morning: IES Vinyet, Maria Ossó, British School Bcn, IES Joan Ramon Benaprès, Miquel Utrillo, Guardería El Cercolet, Agnès de Sitges, Ave Maria.
- Afternoon: Guardería La Moixiganga, Esteve Barrachina, Escola Pia Sitges, Residencia Les Magnòlies, Hospital Sant Joan Baptista, and Casal Municipal de la Gent Gran Joan Maragall.
19:30 h – Rua d’Antes (The Parade from Before)
From the heart of Sitges, the most nostalgic Carnival lovers will kick off the traditional Rua d’Antes!
Dress up in whatever you can find at home and hit the streets!
The event will begin with Sandwich Break PD’s, followed by La Gran Subasta de la Lira, organized by Societat en Construcció El Ratiro.
At 8:00 PM, after the official kickoff by His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Queen of Carnival, the Rua d’Antes will begin, animated by BKT and This-Tracció Txaranga.

Cap de la Vila → Parellades → Bonaire → Passeig de la Ribera → La Fragata → Calle Nou → Major → Cap de la Vila.

His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Queen of Sitges Carnival 2025, along with their entourages, will visit the residences to bring the Carnival spirit to every corner.
11:00 h –Visit to the Municipal Market
His Majesty Carnestoltes and the Queen of Sitges Carnival, along with their respective entourages, will visit the Municipal Market.
11:15 h – Pre-Race Entertainment for the Bed Race
Location: Cap de la Vila
The “fardo” Carnival troupes will host a Xatonaires Masters Contest to determine which group makes the best Xató in Sitges.
Organized by: No K-lia, Colla Huertos, Panxampla’s, and Llanto’s.
12:00 h – Bed Race (Carrera de Camas Disfrazadas)
The long-awaited and crazy Bed Race kicks off from the doors of Casino Prado.
The starting signal will be given by the Queen of Carnival and the Children’s Queen, while His Majesty Carnestoltes will close the parade.
Race Route:
Francesc Gumà → Jesús → Cap de la Vila → Parellades → Sant Pau → Passeig de la Ribera → Sant Pere → Parellades → Bonaire → Passeig de la Ribera (ending near the swings).
At the end of the race, awards will be given to the winning teams.

15 h – Fardo Afternoon: “I Show Off, You Show Off!”
Location: Passeig de la Ribera, swing area
After the spectacular Bed Race, the party doesn’t stop!
Come dressed however you like—a wig, a nose, some old rags… anything goes! And if you don’t feel like dressing up, your smile is the best accessory.
Expect hours of music, fun, and good vibes with local DJs who won’t let us stop dancing.
From 17:00 h:
- Sergio Ramírez and Veneno en la Piel will play the best cover songs to make us dance and sing.
- To close the party, a mobile disco with irresistible beats.

15.30 h – Ball del Fardo
Location: Jardins de la Societat Recreativa El Retiro
One of the most awaited days of Sitges Carnival is here: Fardo Saturday and the authentic Ball del Fardo, organized by Barraques de Sitges.
Last year, “La Banda del Fardo”, a Sitgetan cover band created for the occasion, surprised us, and this year they’re back! They will take us on a journey through their music, Carnival hits, and satire, fighting against local injustices, such as the misattributed Xató and Sitgetan prawns.
Before, during, and after, we’ll enjoy the local DJs: DJ Miku and Dadson PD’s, playing music for all tastes.
This year, the Ball del Fardo returns to the Gardens of El Retiro, with limited capacity but free entry.
We look forward to celebrating Sitgetan talent in its purest essence!

Percussion party through the most emblematic streets of Sitges.

Once again, El Retiro bids farewell to the Carnival celebrations with the traditional coffee, drink, and cigar gathering—held outdoors—so that the most veteran carnival-goers can enjoy a proper final farewell to the festivities.

It is time to bid farewell to His Majesty with all due honors and return to miserable routine.
It’s all the fault of the cursed Vella Quaresma, who always arrives to ruin the party. If it were up to us, we’d keep going all year long… or at least for another week!
19 h – Burial of His Majesty Carnestoltes I (Event with pyrotechnics)
The funeral procession will depart from Plaça de l’Ajuntament, accompanied by his entourage and the mourners wishing to pay their respects to the King of Carnival.
Procession Route:
Plaça de l’Ajuntament → Carrer Major → Cap de la Vila → Carrer Parellades → Bonaire → Passeig de la Ribera → Plaça de la Fragata.
Arrival of Sra Quaresma
After the farewell to His Majesty Carnestoltes, Sra Quaresma will arrive, bringing an end to the magnificent week of excesses and sins with her wisdom and discipline.
Procession Route:
Passeig de la Ribera → Bonaire → Parellades → Cap de la Vila, where she will deliver her peculiar “Manifesto of Vegetables” and sugary buñuelos de viento (light fritters) will be distributed.
