The Revetlla de Sant Joan is celebrated all over Catalonia and welcomes the beginning of the summer. Often celebrated with family, friends and neighbours (with their respective children most definitely included), the parties and fireworks continue until the early hours.
A sweet dough called coca is eaten on this evening and is served with refreshing cava (the local delicious sparkling wine made by the methode Champenoise.
In Sitges it also happens to be the fiesta of the Poble Sec neighbourhood and features fireworks, habaneras (Cuban music brought back by sailors in the nineteenth century), fairground attractions, etc.
